Etco inducted apprentices hit the ground running with tools, Safety Certification, TLC, and EWP certification. We cover annual leave, statutory holidays, sick leave, block courses, ACC levies, KiwiSaver and send you a weekly invoice for work time only. We handle all employment responsibilities.

The hosting 'cost' is much less than the 'rate' suggests. Our Cost vs Rate app demonstrates savings of tens of thousands over the apprenticeship duration. If the relationship isn't working, we'll find you a different apprentice. If work runs dry, send them back for another placement.

Each host company gets an Etco Apprenticeship Coordinator who ensures your needs are met and apprentices complete their Skills training agreement and EWRB requirements. Our registered electricians provide pastoral and technical support as coaches, mentors and guides.

Our electrician tutors link theory to practical work experience in your business. Through our Switched-On support programme, apprentices get help with personal matters including health, relationships and budgeting when needed.

Apprentice Placement

Apprentice placements are designed to be win-win for both apprentice and host company. Apprentices gain necessary on-job experiences while hosts minimise risk and add business value.

You won't worry about employment issues because Etco handles them. No long-term commitment required, giving you flexibility and reduced risk. You'll typically save thousands during their training. If they're not a good fit, send them back and we'll find the ideal replacement. Minimum placement is three months with six-monthly reviews

Make the right decision for your business by letting Etco manage your apprentice needs. We provide quality recruits already screened for academic ability, aptitude and attitude. Our apprentices consistently achieve industry-leading results in exams and competitions.

After industry induction covering safety requirements, hand tool skills and basic theory, apprentices are available for placement. Before hosting, they'll have achieved EWRB Limited Certificate for Trainees and completed Site Safe and EWP training, plus Health and Safety in Work Act 2015 instruction.

If you want to register as an Etco host company, we'll work through the hosting agreement with you. We'll review your health and safety systems unless you have current industry-recognised third-party accreditation.

We need to understand your business activities. You don't need to have the full spectrum of exposures required by the apprenticeship as we can move apprentices between hosts for specific experience.
