About this qualification

This electrotechnology qualification trains you to install and maintain networks and systems or service and repair end-user appliances, goods, and equipment at a non-complex level. You'll gain the foundation skills needed to start your career in the electrotechnology industry.

Choose between two programmes with strand options for your career path. The Electrotechnology programme offers Installation or Service strands, while the Electronic Security programme offers Installation or Service strands. Service strand graduates are eligible to seek registration and licensing as an Electrical Appliance Serviceperson (endorsed to disconnect and connect).

Multiple pathways are available after completion, including NZ Certificate in Customer Premises Systems Level 4, NZ Certificate in Electrical Engineering Level 4, NZ Certificate in Electronic Engineering Level 4, and NZ Certificate in Electronic Security Level 4.

How you'll learn

You'll complete both on-job training at your workplace and off-job theory learning through blended delivery. The programme structure means you learn while you work. This course includes 11 modules total, combining online theory learning and practicals. You'll use naturally occurring evidence from the workplace like job cards and service reports, verified by your supervisor or manager.
