This course teaches you to design battery storage systems for grid-connected PV systems, and install, maintain and fault-find battery storage systems that keep working.

Complete this along with the GCPV course and you'll have the knowledge and skills needed to become endorsed for Mains Parallel Generation Systems (you need two years registration first).

NZQA Level 4 Micro-credential 4556 (10 credits).

This course is endorsed by SEANZ (Sustainable Energy Association of New Zealand).

By completing the Grid-Connected Battery Storage Systems (GCBS) micro-credential, along with the Grid-connected Photovoltaic Systems (GCPV)  micro-credential, you will gain the necessary knowledge, training, skills, and experience to become an Electrician, Electrical Engineer, or Electrical Inspector: Endorsed Mains Parallel Generation Systems. You must have held Registration for at least two years to receive the endorsement.

At the end of this learning package, learners will be able to:

  • Plan the design of battery storage systems for grid-connected photovoltaic systems.
  • Design battery storage systems for grid-connected photovoltaic systems.
  • Plan for the installation, maintenance or fault finding of battery storage systems for grid-connected PV systems.

Course structure

3-day course – 8.30am to 4.30pm

Self-paced online learning – 76 hours approx. (with Tutor support) must be completed prior to attendance at the in-person course.
