About this course
If you have experience working as an electrician overseas, but are new to the New Zealand electrical industry, the EWRB will evaluate your experience and may advise that you need to complete Stage 1 as part of your assessment requirements.
This Stage 1 Practical Assessment demonstrates your fundamental electrical skills to the EWRB. This assessment covers basic electrical installation skills, safety practices, and testing procedures that form the foundation of professional electrical work.
This practical assessment fulfills the EWRB Stage 1 requirements for Electrician/Electrical Installer registration. No examination is required.

Prerequisites and requirements
This course assumes you already have some basic skills in electrical wiring, termination, and installation practices. We highly recommend that people do the Regulations course prior to doing the Assessment course.

- Connect and test single phase and 3 phase motors
- Wire Power outlets
- 1 to 3 way lighting circuits
- Protection and RC
- Perform wiring a distribution board
