This course gives you the skills and knowledge to solve basic problems in PV systems, design grid-connected PV systems, and install and commission grid-connected PV systems.

You'll learn practical techniques for sizing systems, selecting the right gear, and getting installations connected to the grid. All the skills you need to take on solar jobs with confidence.

Who should take this course

This course is designed for registered electricians, electrical engineers, and electrical inspectors who want to add solar PV skills to their expertise. Essential foundation training for anyone looking to work in New Zealand's growing solar industry.

Outcome of the course

NZQA Level 4 Micro-credential 4555 (10 credits).   

This course is endorsed by SEANZ (Sustainable Energy Association of New Zealand).

By completing the Grid-Connected Photovoltaic Systems (GCPV) micro-credential, along with the Grid-connected Battery Storage Systems (GCBS) micro-credential, you will gain the necessary knowledge, training, skills, and experience to become an Electrician, Electrical Engineer, or Electrical Inspector: Endorsed Mains Parallel Generation Systems. You must have held Registration for at least two years to receive the endorsement.

Course structure

3-day course – 8.30am to 4.30pm
Self-paced online learning – 76 hours approx. (with Tutor support) must be completed prior to attendance at the in-person course.
