This course is delivered via an 8-day block course. Once you have completed this course you will need to make a booking to sit your exam with ASPEQ. Please register with them to enrol for the exam. We will confirm with ASPEQ that you have completed the course before you will be allowed to sit the exam.

Ready for the next step in your electrical career? This eight-day course gets you registered with the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) as an electrical inspector and includes the EWRB-approved practical assessment. Our industry experts train experienced electricians to assess installations and ensure electrical work meets the standards that keep New Zealand safe. Move from doing electrical work to evaluating it professionally.
You will receive the following books on the course: Electricity Act 1992, Electricity Safety Regulations, and AS/NZS 3000. After you finish your course, we'll sort your ASPEQ examination booking at a time that works for you. You must attend 80% of the course for us to approve your exam with ASPEQ.
Course format and delivery
Prerequisites and your pathway to licence
Before you start, you must hold a current practising licence as an electrician, be registered as an electrician for no less than three years, and have completed not less than three years practical experience in carrying out prescribed electrical work that is satisfactory to the board. You must bring a copy of your Regulations or Standards. You may enrol without completing 3 years experience, but won't be licensed until you prove this to the EWRB.
After passing the Board approved examination and practical assessment, you can complete the Competence Programme and apply for your practising licence with the EWRB. For information on meeting EWRB criteria for registration of this course, contact us or visit the EWRB website.
